Mookgophong is a city of 16,820 inhabitants located in the south west of the Limpopo province, especially in the Waterberg district.
Its old name was Naboomspruit, named by the abundance of Euphorbia (Naboom in Afrikaans) growing on the banks of the creek Spruit .

The town takes its mining economy, mainly tin mines and platinum.

Mookgophong is a charming town located on the N1 road between Modimolle and Mokopane.
It lies at the foot of the mountains Swaershoek, which makes Mookgophong an ideal place for holidaymakers seeking hiking where to discover the fauna and flora peculiar Waterberg.

A hundred kilometers of Mookgophong is not less than 10 nature reserves and Parks Games.

Demographics Mookgophong is 80% black and 20% white.
