Location of the town of Omaruru

The city was founded in 1870 with the arrival of the missionary Gottlieb.
Today Omururu is a small town of 4800 inhabitants located in the Erongo region in central northwestern Namibia.
Omaruru is on the C33 road next to the Erongo Mountains and the Omaruru River 230 km northwest of Windhoek and 50 km north of Karibib.

The town of Omaruru is served by the TransNamib Railway, the railway line Otjiwarongo - Walvis Bay.
The city is populated mainly by people Herero , where every year a festival commemorating their local leader of yesteryear.
Omaruru's economy is mainly due to its vineyards and tourists through the city to join the North or the private game reserves and lodges guest farms of alantours.
Omaruru has everything it takes to refuel or sleep: gas station, supermarket, several banks, gift shop and even a hospital and a garage.
